4 Shows Like The Last Of us to Watch While You Wait for the Next Season

While no one can take Pedro Pascal’s place, thanks to his unlimited charisma and excellent acting, we are here to make things a bit easier for you. HBO’s The Last of Us is undoubtedly one of the greatest shows we have so far seen in 2023.

And now that the first season has come to an end, we can only wait for the second season or any news about it! But, in the meantime, there is something you can do, and that is to catch up with these other equally-awesome shows that will remind you of The Last of Us.

One thing that we have noticed, however, is that a lot of people do not want to or do not enjoy juggling between multiple streaming sites to watch these shows. It can get pretty hectic, what with all the switching TV inputs repeatedly for every show.

This is why we would recommend that you look into Xfinity TV packages and plans. There, you will learn that Xfinity offers an X1 TV box with its TV plans, which helps you to manage your on-demand content and live content along with streaming services.

Once you have looked into it, you can then continue reading here!

Chernobyl

HBO has a knack for producing some of the best shows and so, we could not resist adding this one to the list. Chernobyl was written and produced by the same person that wrote and produced The Last Of Us: Craig Mazin. Honestly, we’re not surprised at all, especially with the dark and gloomy aesthetic that both shows have going on. HBO’s Chernobyl is the dramatization of the real nuclear disaster of April 1986 in the Soviet Union.

While The Last Of Us is not based on a real story, the theme is very similar to it. You might not be running away from cannibalistic people possessed by a mutated fungus, but the infected animals, people, and items in Chernobyl might be the next worst thing you could ever come across.

The Mandalorian

Before Pedro Pascal was ushering Bella Ramsey to safety in The Last Of Us, he was in another world (or another universe entirely) as a bounty hunter. He comes across some precious cargo and baby Yoda (no, baby Yoda is not the precious cargo, but he might as well be) and now, he must take them to safety. So, yeah, pretty much the same thing as he was doing in The Last Of Us.

Before you decide to skip this show, due to the similarities in the plot, keep in mind that the people’s obsession with baby Yoda is a force to be reckoned with.

Station Eleven

You will find that there are many people online convincing fans of The Last Of Us to watch Station Eleven. You might have come across a few posts or comments like that yourself. Well, they’re not wrong. This HBO Max series is based on a novel of the same name written by Emily St. John Mandel. The similarity that this show shares with The Last Of Us is finding a connection in a broken and post-apocalyptic world.

This show tells one story across two timelines, one amidst a global pandemic, and the other 20 years after that. And yes, you guessed right, it is a flu pandemic. So, this show might hit close to home for many of us, although, we would say that we didn’t have it that bad.

Sweet Tooth

Apparently, a lot of people cannot get enough of the post-apocalyptic theme in TV shows, and the crazier the theories behind it, the better the show. However, it all starts with one strange and mysterious virus. Netflix’s Sweet Tooth is no different from that. A strange virus or disease wipes out a huge part of the human population and leaves behind part animal, part human people, basically hybrids. These hybrids, being strange and all, scare humans and so, they are hunted by them.

Gus is a half-deer, half-human boy who is trying to find his mother. He tags along with Tommy, a lone traveler, much to his dismay. But, the two warm up to each other, and Tommy must now protect Gus from poachers.

What Are You in the Mood for?

So, what’s the first show you’ll be watching? Just to be clear, this list doesn’t really have a particular order or ranking for the shows. All of them are almost as equally good as The Last of Us and so, just pick a show you feel most intrigued about and get started! And as we informed you about the device – X1 TV box from Xfinity – if you do use multiple streaming services and would like to have cable TV as well, it would be the perfect device for you. That is all!
